I agree William. There have been moves to divide California into multiple states also. Most people think of California as simply a monolithic entity, but there as actually numerous of areas of the state which are quite conservative in nature.

I also agree that it would be quite risky financially and politically for either Texas or California (or the Red States) to secede, but at this point, it seems we need to do something in order to avoid another bloody civil war. When I say "civil war," I don't envision troops on the ground, but more like Timothy McVeigh style attacts being carried out by both sides.
